Prayer and Liturgy

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them”

(Matthew 18:20)

Prayer and Liturgy is our response, in word and action, to God’s invitation to enter into a loving relationship with Him, made possible through the work of Jesus Christ and witness of the Holy Spirit.

At St Clement's Catholic Primary School, Prayer and Liturgy is an integral part of the life of the school.  It celebrates God’s presence in our lives and is concerned with giving glory, honour, praise and thanks to God.  It gives children the opportunity to ‘Live the Faith’, as well as to learn from it. We gather as a community to listen to the teachings of the Faith, pray and reflect on our own lives.

Prayer & Liturgy - To love You more dearly

Home and School

Parents are the first teachers of their children in faith, and the spiritual life of our school complements the role of the parish in supporting parents in this faith journey as a family.

Pope Francis told every child to find a little time each day to say prayers, because God really does listen to our prayers; and that praying a little each day will make each of us a more spiritual & loving person.

There are lots of ways to pray, and there is no right or wrong way to ever share your heart with God in prayer. Here are some of our well known Catholic prayers, that you are free to use at home, if you wish.

Children's Prayer Books - Common Prayers

These prayers are prayers that our children will say regularly during school worship. These are simple, familiar prayers that help children learn how to talk to God with confidence and understanding.

By repeating these prayers often, children become more comfortable participating in worship and begin to understand their meaning more deeply.

Care is given to introduce these prayers gradually according to each Key Stage, with sensitivity to the age, personal development and capacity of the children.

Celebration of the Word

Celebration of the Word is a time where we gather to centre minds and hearts, share a short reading, participate in a time of silent reflection, and go forth with an invitation to live out our collective mission.

Year 4 Family Celebration of the word - January 2026

The Mark 10 Mission Visit

Greg from 'The Mark 10 Mission' visited us in January 2026. He led the whole school in prayer and then visited each class to lead a Celebration of the word with all our children and staff. Greg was impressed with all of our children and their ability to 'be still' as well as their engagement and participation during his time in each class. Staff also enjoyed their CPD session after school with Greg.

Month of the Holy Rosary

Throughout the month of October, we gathered together to Pray the Rosary as a quiet celebration of our faith, hope and unity. In our Prayer Garden we reflected on the mysteries which brought a sense of calm to the heart and strength to the spirit. Also, Father Peter visited school to share the Rosary with KS2.
