RSHE

At St Clement’s Catholic Primary School, the RSHE curriculum equips our children with the essential knowledge, skills, and emotional understanding needed to navigate modern life safely. It fosters respectful relationships, safeguards physical and mental wellbeing, and builds the confidence to make informed choices. Learning about friendships and families are the building blocks to help children understand themselves and others. Children are prepared for physical and emotional changes they undergo during puberty. They are equipped with information, skills and values to have safe and positive relationships.

We will provide all children with good knowledge and understanding of the complexities of relationships and how they grow and change and give children the skills to navigate their way through these, now and in the future. Through our RSHE curriculum, we believe we can enhance children’s education and help them to become confident individuals who have positive body awareness, an in-depth knowledge of how to keep themselves safe and healthy, and who will, through respect, tolerance and understanding build positive relationships with a diverse range of family and friendship groups.

The RSHE curriculum provides children at St Clement’s with the skills and confidence to make practical judgements about the right thing to do in different circumstances and promotes respect and dignity. All of this is done within the doctrine of the Catholic Church, faithful to the Church’s vision of human wholeness whilst recognising the contemporary context in which we live. At St Clement’s Catholic Primary School, we deliver this through our scheme of work ‘Live to the Full,’ which is provided by the Ten:Ten Theatre Company.

We also supplement the RSHE with 'We are St. Clement's Days', wider curriculum enhancement days, guest speakers and use a selection of other resources. We will do this to ensure our children are:

  • Valuing different family structures

  • Creating and maintaining positive friendships

  • Developing safe and respectful relationships

  • Understanding the changes that take place during puberty

  • Promoting good health and carrying out first aid

  • Learning to make independent choices and not be influenced by others

  • Operating safely in a digital world
